Native 2008 backup. There was a TechNet article I needed and would have to search for that allows the VM's to be live during the backup. I did about 1 TB in less than 8 hours to a USB drive. Restores were a dream, not just of the VM's but the whole box. That would not work if you have the VM's on a SAN or NAS but I did not have that option.
