Not involved directly with its use, but it has been around here for 7ish
years (probably longer), so it can't be too bad. It seemed to go a
through a period of nonuse, but that has changed recently and it is back
in action as a couple of collegues were asked to prove they have
licenses for Acrobat Pro (which isn't part of our standard build).

How do you find it please? Not cheap but apparently one of the market
leaders.

We use this:

http://www.frontrange.com/software/it-asset-management/network-discovery
/
<BLOCKED::http://www.frontrange.com/software/it-asset-management/network
-discovery/>

formally 'centennial discovery'

(I expect a similar message will appear on the list tomorrow when the
firewall guys release it because it failed the automatic contentent
checking due to the signature block of the message I initially replied
to!)

What do you all use for this please? We're looking for something and of
course you have lots of products all of which promise a lot.

The sort of things we're looking to do is run regular scans of PC's to
capture installed software, recognised, unrecognised software, keep
track of how many instances of Package X we have installed vs. how many
we have licensed.

Thanks,

Paul
