next you are going to tell me to stop walking around in public wearing my pants?

Forgot your guys definition of grilling is different, for us THAT is broiling. You guys shouldn't be allowed to call a grill a BBQ in my opinion. BBQ is low temp, indirect heat. I wince when people call grilling BBQ, they do it in the States also.

That being said, I do love a Saturday night "mixed grill" with rashers, sausages, black and white pudding. I can buy those things here but they're expensive.

Well .. you can certainly get smokers over here, but they're not particularly popular (probably because we don't have long hot summers very often where things stay pleasant and dry!). They're certainly not a BBQ. And a BBQ means fuel fed from below (ie. coal, not cheating with gas), not a grill per se, which is normally heat from above with the meat on a wire grill. American diners call those hot plate thingies a grill (a hibachi to me!). But then you guys "broil" things, which just isn't a real word at all!! ;P

Ah ok but what you refer to as a BBQ is really a grill. BBQ is smoked food, made in a smoker. My propane grill cost me about 80 bucks and its lasted about 3 years but its time for a new one. The humidity and heat where I live kills metal.

I meant the trend to spend a lot on outdoor cooking facilities! Most BBQs over here are £15 B&Q jobs .. which are absolutely fine as long as you don't
expect them to last 10 years out in the wind and rain!

Caja Chinas are not American, they are Cuban and many Cubans make them
themselves.

you come out with a $1200 cooking table! Must be an American thing ....

my family refers to my smoked pork butt as "meat candy". i usually chop
it and they eat it off the platter like finger food.
