Something for you Vipre users out there:

Our biggest problem with Vipre is that new agents don't always install. We've
used Vipre here for a few years, and the agent upgrade has always been the
biggest problem. Luckily the software works well otherwise.

I wanted to write a simple script to uninstall the old version, then install
the new version. You'd think this would be easy. Not really. It turns out
the registry key for the product doesn't have an uninstall parameter, which
sucks.

I contacted support and was told to just use Control Panel, remove the agent,
then install the new version. Not an issue for a single PC or two, but not a
possible method with hundreds of PCs.

So I'm writing a script to stop the services, delete the folders, delete the
registry values, then install the new version. I don't do scripts very much so
I had to muddle through it.

Is it me or should GFI/Sunbelt just have an easy uninstall method already? Why
should customers have to do this? Meanwhile many agents are out of date (defs
are current, though). For non-Vipre sites, do you folks have similar issues?
