I heard that Citrix's alignment with MS was to push App-V as an app
virtualisation solution, and in return Microsoft would push XenDesktop as
the VDI leader.

Depends where you get your scuttlebutt I suppose! But I can say that Citrix
are a lot more receptive to App-V than they were, even though they have
their own solution in this area (Citrix App Streaming)
