Hi Claus,
I also tested the MachKernel-2.4.30-PB_MB1_GCC3_DI; it booted into the
Sarge installer without any problems and without any special kernel
arguments needed.
It seems that you need to replace "root=/dev/ram" in with
"rootdev=/dev/ram".
The miboot kernel images hang at the same point as usual?

Tobias

Hi Florian,
Especially Claus ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) might run into problems on
his
PowerMac 6100.
I also setup a MkLinux Booter compatible kernel image that contains
the
Debian Installer [1]. I havn't tried whether it really works yet.

PB_MB1_GCC3_DI
I tried your installer. Still something is wrong, but it's hopeful:
The kernel doesn't freeze as with miboot, but coudn't read the
init-ramdisk, it says somethimg like
"couldn't mount devfs"
"invalid compressed format"
"no init found"
and
"try passing init= options to kernel"
Then it panics.
I don't know what the kernel expects and if there is any "init"-option
which i can pass that work or if it is in the compiling of the kernel.
I just put the kernel into the system ext. folder, renamed it to "Mach
Kernel" and configured the mklinux-booter:
root=/dev/ram
machoptions= ramdisk=16384 etc..." (the usual options)
I also tried "devfs=mount" as tobias mentioned it a few weeks ago.
I also tried to use the miboot-installer/booter, with your
gcc-miboot-kernel, but since it doesn't work yet I didn't really
exspect it working on my pm6100.
Perhaps the devfs has to be enabled not just compiled within?
Does the kernel/mklinux-booter really use the init- or devfs-options?
Or does the mklinux-booter ignore these options without sending it to
the kernel and are the error-messages just standard messages of the
kernel?
Claus.
