Yes, I edited it but in my haste I did not really edit all of it properly. I am
at times a little too anxious, and not appropriately patient about the task at
hand.

My 1400c is now up and running on your new gcc kernel and the install seemed to
go a bit smoother, But this time I went with the Deb installer's suggestion
about the size of the swap file being limited to 183 megs, this is a large
mistake on my part as I can tell you that the system really churns away at the
hard drive, and is noticably slower as a result.

Last time I installed, I used a 1.2 gig swap and it seemed alot smoother in in
running apps. So I am in the market for a larger hard drive. I recently
purchased a cd-rw teac w28e for the 1400 as I read tobias' email that it could
be used with the 1400. I'm wondering if it needs to be modified in some way to
fit the 1400c?

Many Thx - once again,
Vito

That's strange. Do you really edited the right yaboot.conf?

It should read something like this:

image = miboot.image-2.4.30-PB_MB1_GCC3
label = Linux 2.4.30
video = nbpmacfb
root = <your root partition, e.g. /dev/hda8>
append = "keyboard_sends_linux_keycodes=1"
