I've been using BootX 1.1.3. That's what I've had the most success with in the past.
I just tried a kernel from the latest sources, and got past the boot loader. It starts to boot the kernel, but stops and shuts off before it finishes. However, it is not consistent. Sometimes it crashes while probing adb, other times while detecting hda. Seems to happen more frequently at the adb probe point. Let me know what info you need and I'll get it.
