am not sure i follow.
within this one matte1 read node i have 2 more embedded passes called
1)ambient and 2)incandecence(don't ask me why...it's the cg dept:)) . within
each of these there are further rgb mattes.
so what name should i be changing? you mean it should be rendered from maya
with a different naming convention?

The good thing about stereo in nuke is that you have both eyes in one
stream and therefor every node works on both eyes at the same time.
To use this you have to join your views with the JoinView node.
But I saw on your screenshots that you have the name of your view in the
layername which you have to remove because otherwise nuke won't recognize
that it is the same but from different views.
When this is set up correctly you only have to use one grade, select your
matte channel as mask and colorcorrect both eyes.
Best regards,
Michael

Subject: [Nuke-users] extracting exr passes with shuffle node for stereo.
hi,
I have a question with stereo and exr files.
So we are building a stereo setup for a short cg project. we have the
left and right cams rendered from mentalray in exr and then composited in
nuke. These exr files have about 5-7 embedded passes eg. reflection,
specular, diffuse, and then some mattes.
The way I am extracting this is to take a shuffle node, extract say
'matte1_left' (which has 'r' set to objectX, 'g' set to objectY, and 'b'
set to objectZ) and set all to red, as I want to color correct objectX.
Then take another shuffle node and select matte1_right and repeat the
process, THEN merge the two to get my left and right views for this pass
showing up.
so what I am asking is that for every channel extraction I need to
shuffle out left and right seperately and then join them ? is there
another way? am I missing something? is there anyway of extracting left
and right together?
I was trying to use the 'remove' and 'add' nodes to see if they help but
I didn't get anywhere with them.
I would appreciate any help on this. I have looked up loads of forums and
either I'm just not looking in the right places or then I've missed
something...

p.s. am attaching images of this to make myself a bit more clear.
