You can also try the curvetools "IntensityData" to compensate flicker when you use it in combination with a grade node. After tracking a flickering area with the curveTool, use the following expression in the grades "whitepoint" for every single color channel:

"CurveTool1.intensitydata"

and in the grades "gain":

"CurveTool1.intensitydata(100)"

while "100" is the frame you want to stabilize to
