I would enjoy a separate thread on theory and high-level implementation
strategies that is separate from low-level debugging, troubleshooting, and
other user/application-specific kinds of messages.  As to whether or not a
list-serv is the appropriate forum for such discussions, perhaps there
could be a wiki component setup to complement the mailing list.  The wiki
would preserve FAQ's and other established background material that new
users could quickly peruse without having to sort through the list-serv
archive.
