reopening this bug.
The icon itself is showing a warning status all of the time, whether connected
or not - see 9639.
when user physically disconnects the cable from e.g. interface bge0, the nwam
icon balloon popup indicates that bge0 has been disconnected.
However, on hovering the mouse over the icon, bge0 shows
icon - error state
text - wired bge0 "connected"
3 minutes later, moving the mouse over the nwam icon, bge0 is still showing
icon - error state
text - wired bge0 "connected"
