I think this is a reasonable approach.

The feedback I'm hearing from early access users most often is that the icon is
orange in cases where they wouldn't expect it to be--they're connected and
things are working as expected.  In my own case, I see it orange when one of
the two NCUs in a shared priority group is connected, and the User location is
active.  I would expect it to be green in that case, the system is working
exactly as expected.
