Hello Bon,

I believe the maps server was taken down due to the recent articles on
slash dot etc... the traffic was killing ptp's box...

Bs> I had several brief conversations with the author of nodedb ---
Bs> evilbunny. I understand from evilbunny that (s)he has reservation to use
Bs> his/her real name for privacy reason, which I respect. But I myself am
Bs> puzzling what anonymous identity may entail when one has to assume
Bs> responsiblity and liability.

You left off trying to keep wireless and business separate... My name
isn't exactly a secret, just not well publicised...

Bs> More inline comments ....

Bs> I do not know what Terry meant by that. The information in nodedb is NOT
Bs> entirely identical to that in maps.nycwireless. ESSID was not even
Bs> listed. That may be fine if one's arm is to be twisted to use only one
Bs> generic ESSID. Anyway, I personally have reservation about the
Bs> truth of a complete mapping of information between nodedb and
Bs> maps.nycwireless, especially by looking at the schema for NODEDB publicly
Bs> available at:

I'm sure in light of what some cable companies have done lately you
guys would have opt'd for a little more privacy, essid is stored from
ptp, just never displayed, although it wouldn't take much to add essid
on a per interface basis...

Bs> Terry, if you spend sometime to look at the Go-Wireless project, you will
Bs> see our schema design incorporates such business logic, and extends MUCH
Bs> MORE far beyond that. The Go-Wireless project URL has been posted a number
Bs> of times to the NYCWireless as well as the APP SIG. Here again in case one
Bs> is interested but misplaced the URL

Or if you email a coder working on it with suggestions for
improvement, it sometimes also appears :)

Bs> If there is any negotiation going on between the screen, I will appreciate
Bs> the involving parties brought forth of the negotiation to the front for
Bs> all the members of NYCWireless.

None that I'm aware of other then requesting schema etc...
