I checked the archive before writing this and as far as I can tell, none of this has been discussed yet.
I recently purchased the Siemens SpeedStream Wireless PCMCIA Card (Model SS1021). I admit this was a rather compulsive buy; I didn't do any research on cards before I bought it, it was on sale and the sales guy at Circuit City recommended it (because he earned a higher commission on it no doubt). Anyway, does anybody else have this model? I couldn't find any mention of it in the archives leading me to believe I'm one of very few people to own this card. Anyway so I have no problem connecting to my home network. It works beautifully, but when I'm out & about I can't seem to pick up any signals. I suspect I'm doing something wrong with the configuration or something. That and I hear all this talk of connecting to others nodes or whatever but I'm completely clueless about that as well. And I don't want to pay Starbucks of any of these other people for access. According to the maps on the nycwireless.net web site my area is covered by some guy's signal. But again, I couldn't pick up any signals when I was at the local coffee shop (DTUT @ 84th & 2nd, for the record....anybody pick up free signals there?) Thanks in advance for all replies. -- NYCwireless - http://www.nycwireless.net/ Un/Subscribe: http://lists.nycwireless.net/mailman/listinfo/nycwireless/ Archives: http://lists.nycwireless.net/pipermail/nycwireless/
