I use #1 & #2, but not #3. I have a regular standard network cable connecting
the desktop and the router. (They're both located around the same desk.)

Can't comment as intelligently as others about Netgear vs. Linksys. General
consensus seems to be that Cisco and Lucent Orinoco are the best notebook
cards, followed by the rest in no particular order it sounds like. Linksys
seems to be considered fine within that 2nd tier from what I can tell. I
personally have an SMC card, and don't like it much, but admittedly I haven't
really thoroughly tested how good/bad it is.

HTH. Email back if you're looking for more info.

I am looking to set up a Wireless network in my
apartment.
I have DSL connection, 1 Desktop and 1 laptop.

I guess that I probably need to buy:
1. Access point / Router.
2. PC Card for the laptop.
3. PCI card for the desktop.

Which is better Netgear or Linksys ?
Do you recommend another vendor ?

I guess I probably should go with 8012.11g

TIA,
