Yes, SMC's antenna is removable. Please bear with me while I ask some basic,
stupid questions. An omni-directional antennta radiates a signal that is
roughly an oval around the antenna point, correct? That is what make it an
"omni-directional" and not "directional"? And the antenna I currently have
is (typically) omni-directional? I can install a better omni-directional
antenna to increase my range without making any other changes to the box? My
range is not limited be the definition of 802.11b?

So what, exactly, is it I am looking to buy? A more powerful
omni-directional antenna to replace the stock antenna shipped with the AP?
What are "pigtails"?

Buying another AP won't help because, as I understand it, SMC AP's cannot be
used in a repeater situation. If I don't want to replace my existing AP, my
only cheap option is antenna replacement, correct?

I'd rather solve this on the AP side since I have two (and soon three)
wirless laptops and I'd rather not upgrade each of them.
