Re: two wrt54g routers

Hi Robert:

I assume you want a __separate__ subnet for your LAN. (The 54G has a 4-port
Lan network--it's just on the same network as the wireless.)

You can use two 54g's to accomplish this through Linksys's basic web interface.
In general, you'd:

1. Turn off wireless on the second 54g (making it a simple router)
2. Change its LAN's IP subnet so it's different from the first unit's (i.e.,
not 192.168.1.*)
3. Make its WAN connection DHCP (not static)
4. Connect the second unit's WAN port to the one of the first unit's LAN ports

First 54G:
LAN - 192.168.1.1 (Linksys's standard Lan)
WAN - Your ISP's ip address

Second 54G:
LAN - 192.168.2.1 (your second LAN, manually set, with the Wifi Option off)
WAN - Set to DHCP

Your wireless network will appear 192.168.1.*
Your wired network will give out addresses like 192.168.2.*

Dana is right, you can do this with OpenWRT. More importantly, I'm pretty sure
with OpenWRT you can do it using only __one__ unit.

I hope that's not all gibberish. Caveat emptor...

Rob
