The BROWN BOOBY in Buffalo Harbor was seen for the ninth consecutive day today since being discovered on October 7th. 90% or more of the sightings have been in two spots on Donnellys pier (the long breakwater with a sand spit at the north end) or on the Reef Lighthouse (the decrepit structure a little to the right of the water intakes (structure with the red roof), as you look from the tower. Donnellys pier is a little over ½ mile from the Erie Basin Marina tower. The Reef Lighthouse is about 1.3 miles from the tower. Obviously, a scope is essential for viewing this bird at these distances. Note that the Reef Lighthouse is just inside the US boundary line with Canada. The booby has also been seen in flight over both US and Canadian waters.
This list has not received many of the reports of this bird. Most reports are going to Geneseebirds so if you still want to see this bird, I would suggest you sign up for that list to get updates.
