Alley Pond Park 18 April Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) went looking for migrants this morning on an overcast day, It was good to be out. What wasn't good was the birding. No warblers, but a single BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER at Little Alley Pond. The only other birds of interest were the continuing pair of GREAT HORNED OWLS and 4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS at the large kettle pond and 8 more on the lawn by the handball courts.
We drove into Valley Stream SP on the way home. A HERMIT THRUSH was feeding like a Robin on the lawn just off the parking lot. Otherwise the park was dead.
