June 23, 2014

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     6/27: 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS  herold in the fall? 
migration of shorebirds at Knox-Marsellus Marsh.
     6/28: 4 LEAST BITTERNS were seen in the marshes on Morgan Road.


Onondaga County
------------

     6/28: 4 ORCHARD ORIOLES were found at Green Lakes State Park.
     6/29: At least 2 ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS continue at Whiskey Hollow.


Oneida County
------------

     6/28: An ORCHARD ORIOLE was found at Spring Farm Nature Center.
     6/30: 2 UPLAND SANDPIPERS were seen on North Gage Road near Poland.


Oswego County
------------

     6/29: 4 WHIP-POOR-WILLS were heard in the gravel pits on County Rt.17 
north of Oneida Lake.


Herkimer County
------------

     6/29: A SWAINSON’S THRUSH was found on Beaver/Satterlee Road.


Jefferson County
------------

     6/27: At Fort Drum fortunate birders were treated to CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, 
SEDGE WREN, WHIP-POOR-WILL and COMMON NIGHTHAWK. WHIP-POOR-WILL was also heard 
on Burnt Rock Road. HENSLOW SPARROW was heard on Dog Hill Road in the Perch 
River WMA.
     6/29: 2 HENSLOW’S SPARROWS were again heard on Dog Hill Road.
