Ok.. a not so useless post from me. Friends and I did indeed buy the
el-cheapo laptop bags (and can I just say that for $65, that is NOT an
el-cheapo price!) and the handles (the bit that holds it onto your shoulder)
fell off! (and this was after a couple of weeks, so just when you had
started to trust it!)

So, check all the seams. While it may be less important for your kid's books
to spill, I personally was not so happy when my laptop took a tumble

(and just before the cynical people say anything, it happened to two
identical bags of the same make/model)

(and also just before anyone asks... I don't think it actually had a brand,
it was quite generic)

Subject: [phpug] Re: Laptop backpacks in Auckland CBD

I have just been through a super-frustrating process trying to find a
backpack for my 18" HP Laptop to take overseas. I was about to give up
and buy an uber-expensive 'normal' laptop bag from DSE that I didn't
really want, then my wife convinced me to try The Warehouse. I humoured
her, but didn't really expect them to have anything.

They have a huge range of backpacks with laptop slots in them - as
someone else mentioned, most of the schoolbags have laptop compartments.
I found one that will fit the laptop for only $65 (requires small mods
though). If the laptop was 15" or 17" instead of 18", then there is
heaps to choose from at the red shed.

Definitely worth a look.

Harvey.
