Yeah, point noted. The 18" notebook is cool, but retailers just don't 
stock bags for them. Some of the more expensive (ie better made) 17" 
bags were going to cost $100 - $150, but there would be a couple of 
inches of laptop sticking out the top, or it would be the 'flop-open' 
design which makes getting at the computer a pain (as opposed to the 
awesome 'slide-in' design). At $65 I was grateful to get something that 
was a backpack, and actually fitted the laptop.

I'm having to do a few mods to the bag anyway to get the laptop sitting 
right, so I'll make sure I put a few extra stitches into the shoulder 
straps - thanks for the advice.

My last laptop was 20", and the best price I could find on a 20" bag at 
the time was 150 pounds + shipping from the UK. Needless to say, I 
didn't have a bag for that laptop.
