Take my comments or leave it.

I have written off one invoice in the last 6 years since I started my 
business, for an amount of around $70, and I knew at the time I took the job 
that the client probably wouldn't pay.

My #1 piece of advice I would give a starting out web developer (or anyone not 
too set in their ways) is to find out what the customers *really* wants and 
develop a commercially viable way to provide it to them.

Not another 'website developer' or 'web host' company!
