We use mailchimp.com and it's pretty good. The servers are located overseas
on their faster than NZ speeds, and we haven't had more spam issues than
normal. 

Our volumes vary, but we have had mails of about 8000-10000 at one time. 

They also pretty much give automatic non-profit discount if that is
applicable!

I was using smtp.com through one of their partner services
interspire.smtp.com
They didn't have any obvious daily relay limit, but there is a monthly
one.  Also looking at their site now, looks like there's a 15% bounce
threshold before they consider temporarily blacklisting you.

They have plans there for 50000 relays/month  for USD $47.50
