Thanks for the replies. YouTube allows 2G max for their uploads. that just indicates there is a way to achieve it.
yes, desktop app or flash uploader are obvious ways that this can be done with. HTTP PUT METHOD is the other one that I was able to find. its just the hassle for user authentication puts me off.
