Depending on your needs, you might like to look at how OpenAtrium (a Drupal 
distribution) has made use of OG to provide different content and features to 
different groups of users.

I don't think it's actually the solution you're looking for, but installing and 
playing with it may give you some good food for thought.

Domain module which Thom's suggested is the closest "out of the box" solution 
to what you want - but it's not trivial, and it might upset or offend some 
other contrib modules you're hoping to use.

It works by applying different table prefixes depending on the site which is 
loaded, eg if viewing example2.com it prefixes node* to example2_node* ... 
sounds like simple genius, and in theory it is. In practice ...

Maybe some other Domain vets can add more to what I'm hinting at here?

Is there a local Drupal meet you can get along to?
