Thanks for the good comments about Natcoll and PHP teaching. We had a lot
of valuable advice from this group in the early years of the course, and we
used to host the PHP group meet ups once a month until we ran out of space,
so we have a lot of good contact with the industry still. It would be good
if those meetings could be started up again, so I'll see if we have more
room when we move to a new building soon.

We're now called Yoobee School of Design, but the Web Diploma (NZQA Level
6) is continuing on in the same way, constantly changing to keep up to new
and forthcoming technology, while making sure the basics are covered. The
course is only one year long, and we have to take beginners with no coding
experience through to web standard HTML5/CSS3 (responsive design is a
given), Javascript (yeah, yea, Jquery as well), and introduce them to PHP
from nowhere to MVC, which is a helluva range of knowledge in a short
time, but the best graduate at a level that should get them an interview
with Mike. At least half of them have jobs before they complete the course,
so there's obviously a market for junior webbies out there.

Keri: If you had had a mohawk when you mentioned CodeIgniter I would have
chosen Symphony.

Cheers all
