To answer your question in the subject: 2.6 is the only MongoDB version supported on the 1.0 branch. Newer versions may not work and probably require a newer MongoDB Java Driver.
I understand that it may be correct that 1.0.* doesn't work properly with Mongo 3.2; but shouldn't it fail in a more predictable way?
There's a check for the minimal MongoDB version, but it might be good to also introduce a check for newer versions we know are not working. Can you please create an issue for this? Thanks.
