Any aerodynamicists, TT specialists out there who might have some
answers to what (I thought) was an unusual occurance in today's
Tour de France Team Time Trial?
I would have assumed that wind tunnel tests would have confirmed
the usefullness or not of hard shell aerodynamic helmets for TT's
on predominantly flat ground courses. (I assume they must have a
limited advantage on mtn. TTs). Yet today we saw some riders with
bare heads, others with bandanas, still others with the usual bike
cap, plus the hard shell helmet in both aero and non-aero styles.
This was seen even within the same team.
