Title: Re: [obc] Club's perceived elitism

(Using my work account.)

Last year I rejoined the OBC but made it to zero (0) OBC events.  The only one I ever have made is a group riding clinic. I live in the City of Ottawa, but near the far west end, in Munster.  For those of you who don't know Munster, it's not far from Ashton, and most of you have been to Ashton.

I'd like to be the kind of rider who could casually bike to Billings for a ride, then home afterwards.  But it's not that likely.  I go to church; so the regular Sunday rides might as well not be there for me.  My wife doesn't ride (yet!) and we share one car.

So, for every member that says "riding to remote start rides is too long" remember there may be another potential member who says "riding to Billings Bridge is too long".  I am a member of the KNBC, and I made one group ride with them last year.  Same issue, actually, the centre of their universe is Nepean Centrepoint and Kanata Town Centre, both a bit over 20 km from me.

YMMV
