dragging on this "perceived" thread,
I
wonder if some of this comes from the process of forming groups on [Sunday]
rides.
New
faces will notice some reluctance from other riders when joining
groups. Especially in the more sportif/training groups. I believe
this is totally justified, and should be expected.
When
you are riding in groups, the enjoyment of the ride can be significantly
effected by the riding skills and styles of its members. I'm not just
talking about the possibility of one member taking down another,
and causing physical and bigtime $ damage, but the whole smoothness of the
ride. One doesn't realize how erratic their riding is until they get in a
group, and it takes lots of kms to improve your perception skills of what is
happening in the group.
I
wonder how many new riders do not realize the risks and responsibilities of
riding in groups, and take this aspect to be cliqueish,
elitism.
Yes,
this is a plug for group riding clinics, a smooth, continuous peddle
stroke, and perception-skill enhancement....(but wait...isn't this statement
elitist?...I'll be expecting some flames)
Eric( still
learning to ride, and hopes to be for a long time)
