Șciusev 103, Chișinău “În 2013 am descoperit o carte ce vorbea despre un eveniment istoric din România, ţara mea natală, despre care nu ştiam nimic: participarea ei la Holocaust. Scrisă în timpul celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial de Matatias Carp, un avocat evreu din Bucureşti, cartea a fost ascunsă timp de zeci de ani de către autorităţile comuniste din România. Când am răsfoit-o am găsit o serie de fotografii făcute în timpul pogromului în oraşul Iaşi din România (al doilea oraş ca mărime din ţară). Imaginile dezvăluiau masacrul urban şi metodele folosite pentru a deporta şi a extermina evreii. La 74 de ani după eveniment am mers în România pentru a găsi locurile în care fuseseră făcute fotografiile. Al. Șciusev 103, Chișinău “In 2013, I discovered a book highlighting an historic event in Romania, my native country, which I knew nothing about : its participation in the Holocaust. Written during WWII by Matatias Carp, a Jewish lawyer in Bucharest, the book was hidden for decades by the Romanian communist regime. Browsing through it, I came across a series of photographs taken during a pogrom in the Romanian city of Iasi (the 2nd biggest city in the country). The pictures reveal urban killings and the method used to deport and exterminate the Jews. 73 years after the event, I went to Romania looking for the locations of these photos.
