At or around the same time a car battery is stolen from an Isuzu LDV Panel Van CA337601 in Roman Road (around the corner). Kris and I hear a commotion in Oxford Road and see a short person running towards Trill Road. I notice a large Negro type of gent (possibly with white faz) standing in the intersection of Station and Oxford Roads but he moves away when he noticed me. I radio for help, no response from any SW (SAPS). Kris (Oscar 20) responds. Kris radio's through that a black car is riding through Oxford Road at speed. I find a pair of black shoed on the corner where Kris joins me. A short stocky Congolese man comes from Station Road with ladies high heel shoes and tells me that two men robbed a black lady and that he tried to help the lady. Kris saw him shouting and going round the corner and shouted at him "Back". The shoes I found where his, initially he does not want to come with us. Kris thinks the man is possibly drunk or high (swearing and swagger). The black car turned out to be a neighbour in Trill Road looking for the suspects. We find the mugged lady in Trill Road corner Eden and radio again for the SAPS, still no response except from Oscar 07 who comes on her scooter. Also ADT Armed Response arrived and is later backed up by another. The bicycle patroller is send to me to look for the mugging suspects but sees instead a person walking/running with a car battery in Roman Road. The person is chucked out of a taxi and climbs with battery over a gate of a house occupied by many African foreigners In Roman Road. ADT officer cannot search the premises. Still no response from SAPS and Bev rode to Woodstock station after which SAPS arrives but are first involved in the mugging. Allan also attended on request from Bev. In the meantime Kris is following the Congolese man in Bowden Road who sidled away and is now a possible suspect. He was wearing a brown cap (like Andy Capps cap) shiny full length shirt and designer jeans. He pretends to be looking for an address. Walks past Kris (cnr Trill and Oxford) back to Station Road and disappears. The Police returned to attend to Roman Road andare taking statements and we go home. There was much radioing backwards and forwards. One lesson learned is that we all grabbed our radio in a hurry but none of us had a cell phone to contact SAPS when they did not responded to radio calls nor could we take photographs of suspect. ##################################################################################### Scanned by MailMarshal - Marshal's comprehensive email content security solution.
