I try to report the figures, just for the weekend, that we obtain first thing at the beginning of the week. They are just an indication, only for the weekend, and at the time probably some crime has not been reported. This is the best we can do at present. There is an embargo from on high on the Police releasing their figures. We are trying to compile our own figures with the aid of the website, as is done by other NWs. However we need someone to take charge of compiling the figures on a day to day basis. Much crime goes unreported to the Police. If we can compile more comprehensive figures it will help our Police be aware of all that goes on. If we can persuade residents and businesses to report to the Police more of the crime that occurs it will improve the amount of Police resources that are allocated to our area. Any volunteers? Take care. David David Raphael 072 065 7223 Chairperson OBS NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

But, in those stats listed, I am not seeing a lot of the incidents that are mentioned on this forum. For example, this forum has had a few posts in the last two weeks about car break-ins in Milner and Alfred St, but I didn't see these listed in the ONW report. So, either these are not being reported to the police, or the stats are incorrect. Which is it? Either way, it's not a true picture of what's going on.
