I will alert Avril Parker at Social Development to the fact that there
is an ongoing problem, and notify the new outreach worker. He has just
taken over from Mark Williams so we are in a handover period. If you
need a more immediate response try phoning the head of the Metro's
Displaced People's Unit, Wayne, on 076 1775 440 or contact Inspector
Nel on 082 302 5436. The owner of the property should also be
contacted since the DPU may not be able to act if these people are on
private property. Brian Amery may be able to trace the property owner.
You should also phone the Metro Control Room at 021 596 1999 to lodge
a complaint (get a reference number). I feel it will work better if
those people who live in the area can monitor what is going on and
make the necessary phone calls themselves, rather than wait for
someone to pick this up on the google group. Contact me if you need
further information. I live some distance from Drake St and work in
Stellenbosch during the week, so its difficult for me to monitor what
is happening. I will email this message to the relevant people.
Rob
