As part of an ONW sub-committee initiative, we have been contacting with various security company providers in Obs over the last few months. We have had productive meetings with ADT, CBAR, and Chubb. I have tried to contact OAR at least 5 times to set up meetings, explaining that we were "reaching out" from ONW to see how we could co-ordinate the activities of the various AR companies in Obs to provide an improved service to everyone. So far, the meeting has not taken place despite various promises from the OAR owners. The one time they did turn up for a meeting it was an hour late and I had already left for another appointment.
Anecdotal evidence about OAR is that their patrollers are committed and active service providers, but that their admin and control systems are poor. There have been numerous complaints about OAR's admin systems that have been posted on this forum previously. A common complaint has been that people who cancel with OAR get debited for months afterwards, and have to really make an effort to get the debit order cancelled and get their money back. I am not sure if these issues at OAR have been resolved; as I said, we have not been able to meet with them to find out. There have also been various complaints about ADT's response times, service etc on this forum previously. I have been present at numerous meetings where we have discussed these issues with different levels of ADT management, and have always found ADT to be responsive to the issues we have raised. I also sit on the Oxford Road bicycle patrol committee and we have a monthly meeting with ADT where issues are raised; each month we go over the previous months minutes and follow up. While ADT's service may not always be up to scratch, they have proven willing and committed to improvement. Make your choice! As an aside, you don't have to go directly through ADT to get a new alarm installed should you choose that route. There are various accredited ADT installers that can and do install systems on behalf of ADT. There have been a couple recommended here over the last few months. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jonathan Endersby Sent: 27 July 2009 03:03 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [obsnw] Re: ADT vs Obs Armed Response - any opinions? Hi Peter Does your insurance company consider OAR to be authorised installers? Actually, since I'm sure you've been through this with your break-ins, did your insurance company ever ask you about your alarm and who installed it?
