Please let us know the outcome Trevor, we've been discussing it at home, and it's indeed a tricky subject. When is someone "suspicious", who determines that definition exactly? In Germany police may at any time ask any person for their identification, they call it: Personal Kontrolle - checking of personal details. You are obliged by law to carry your Id card at all times. That's not a search as such, just noting who is walking where. The police may also then give you something called a "Platzverweis" meaning "to forbid you to stay at that particular location" (send you on your way). Is there anything similiar here? Not sure if that would be a better solution. Melanie
