I am open to correction but as far as I know the police are allowed to stop and search someone if there are reasonable grounds for suspicion. i.e. They can't stop and search you for no reason. I suspect that Trevor, Teun and others are in fact all on the same side. Did you see Teun's excellent letter in the Cape Times (18 Feb.) re. the extraordinary arrest of Chumani Maxwele? If the police exceeded their authority David (ONW chair) and Teun (CPF chair) can and should take this up with them. 'Community policing' is a two-way street. I hope Trev reports back on his conversation with Snr. Supt van der Riel.
