Some advice from the City Council's website: “We appeal to those having house parties to consider your next door neighbours. Residents with different lifestyles can live side by side. A combination of common sense and tolerance is essential, especially during the festive season,” said Bosman.
However, we are urging neighbours to co-operate to avoid anyone getting to the point where, rightly or wrongly, they think they need to complain or are the subject of a complaint. The following steps can be practiced: • if you are having a party make sure your neighbour knows about it in advance. You may even want to invite them along.. • keep music down to a reasonable level – especially late at night. • ask your guests to leave quietly by not slamming car doors or sounding horns. • be tolerant of your neighbours, if you are either hosting or are your neighbour is hosting a party. In the event of annoyances or complaints, neighbours should attempt, as far as possible, to settle the matter between themselves, exercising due tolerance, reasonableness and consideration. Where a dispute cannot be resolved amongst neighbours please contact the Metropolitan Police Department Call Centre on 0860-POLICE (765423), who will dispatch Law Enforcement Rapid Response to strictly enforce the City’s laws. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Observatory Neighbourhood watch" group.
