It is time that we the residents of Observatory are to be considered when these decisions are made, and our protests taken note of. We have to put up with the noise, drunken abuse, damage to our properties as well as making it unsafe to walk around the centre of Obs late at night without being accosted by someone drunk or stoned out of their minds. I now drive if I need to be somewhere in Obs after dark and just before dawn when I am on my way to church. This was never the case when I moved into Obs 15 years ago.

May I suggest that the OCA, ONW, OBSID, SAPS, Metro Police, City of Cape Town and the Premier of the Western Cape, meet with this "rubber stamp" and lay down the law regarding liquor licences. This community needs to be informed and involved in these decisions, and should have the right to veto any liquor license application. The biggest stakeholders are the community, and their collective interests far outweigh any troublesome liquor license.
