Hello All,

In response to David Raphael's email a few weeks ago, I decided to
cancel my ADT armed response service and go with vetus Schola. I would
be supporting a neighbourhood based security service - I like this
idea and VS was also R100 cheaper than what I was paying with ADT. It
sounded good all round - until I started to try and sign - up with
VS.
I first sent an email to the general email address - no response to
this. A few days later I decided to try the 0800 number - someone
answered the call and when asked to speak to someone about signing up
with VS, he did not understand. I was then transferred to someone
else, who then told me that a manager would call me back to give me
more information. A few days later a woman called me back (I cannot
recall her name), when i explained that I wanted to sign-up, she also
said that someone would call me back. (I am still waiting for this
call - it's now two or more weeks later...)
Based on the above experience, I have serious concerns about the
ability of VS to service the Observatory public, and unfortunately
we're not talking about a general service here - we're talking about a
security service. One cannot afford to have people answering calls who
do not understand what the caller is trying to say. Time is of the
essence in an emergency situation. I have decided to stick with the
devil I know, at a reduced rate of course!

If VS could show improved service and a good track record, I would be
willing to think about this option again!

PS =- In agreement with other people on this list, I have also noticed
a remarkable drop in the VS patrols along Strubens Road lately.

Thanks
JAnet
