  Hi All,

One simple tip - Insert the card and press CANCEL if your card is returned
you can be pretty sure the ATM is not comprised. Reinsert your card, provide
PIN and proceed as normal.

FNB offers a service called Send Money. The recipient does not need to have
a bank account, but does require a cell phone number. Money sent in this way
can be drawn at an ATM without a card. If a card is not inserted into the ATM
then there is a prompt for a cell phone number at some point. I would guess
that the card reader had been tampered with and did not recognize that a card
had been inserted. The software could not have been tampered with. If you
normally use a card at an ATM then you would not normally see the request for a
cell number.

I'm intrigued by the cell phone part of this story. I never seen a ATM
ask for a cell phone number??
Was the ATM tampered with or was the guy just skimming the card and
trying to get her PIN code?
