Dear Frank and James, thank you for the response. These crimes did not
concern my car so I don't know the exact times and dates. I can ask
neighbours to report details to emails below. If I can find out more,
I'll do so.
Thanks Sandy

Dear Sandra,

Thank you for raising your concerns and providing some details.

As you know we keep details of all crime in Observatory through
www.turnitaround.co.za and this is, unlike a report to Saps, available
to all but in particular to the Obsid Security committee who have indeed
identified the entire Oxford Road and intersections as hotspots.

Up to 4 Aug we were only aware of the battery theft from number 49 and
I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me the full particulars, such
as the dates and times. This details makes it easier to allocate
resources (patrols) to the areas.

Everyone is encouraged to provide any crime details besides to Saps
either to:
1. Vetus Schola Tel 021 447-1066
2. This ONH Google Site
3. www.turnitaround.co.za/network/observatory-nhw
4. to myself <[email protected]>

Knowledge empowers.

Many thanks,

Frank Schuitemaker

During the last couple of months, Oxford Rd between Bowden and Trill
has become a hotspot for crime. There have been several incidents within
metres of my house - 2 car batteries stolen, plus one attempt, petrol
stolen, spare wheel and jack stolen, laptop computer stolen.
Residents of 49 Oxford had battery stolen from green Golf (first
attempt at this was foiled, then some weeks later, thieves returned and
managed to take battery).
This week, from this same Golf, fuel line cut and petrol stolen.
Another battery was stolen from a black Golf In Oxford Rd (don't know
resident).
This last weekend, residents of 43 Oxford Rd had spare wheel and jack
stolen from green Corsa. Thieves had also tried to take the battery, but
didn't succeed.
On Sunday resident of 58 Oxford Rd (corner Oxford and Bowden) was
mugged outside house and laptop stolen.
The Corsa incident was reported to the police, don't know about
others.
The Vetus Scola footpatrols and vehicles seem to be sparsely spread out
and I would like to see them more visible in Oxford Rd, especially at
night. From Oxford Rd, it is easy for thieves to get away up Bowden to
Main Rd or down to Lower Main Rd.
When the Vetus Scola number is called, they come out, but this e-mail
be reported to higher authorities at security so that crime in this area
can reduce.
