I was astonished to read in Obslife (April) that according to the
Provincial CPF Chairperson, Hanief Loomat, the Woodstock CPF (and
other CPFs) have been run by a 'cabal' that is 'intent on keeping the
wider community out'! My belief is that the former CPF Chair (Teun
Baaertman) and the present Chair (James Cowley, who I know well) are
honourable upstanding people who are motivated by nothing other than a
desire to enhance levels of safety in their communities. They spend
many (unpaid) hours on this task and show great patience in their
dealings with SAPs, who they try to support whenever possible. They
would welcome greater community participation with open arms (as would
ONW) and are hardly to be blamed if so few community members are
willing or able to give of their time and energy. Loomat's
allegations suggest a conspiracy theory, are probably libellous, and
reflect very poorly on him.
