Congratulations. Clearly the Liquor Board does not function as it should and it is a pity that this is what it takes to sort something out. I wonder whether tweeting Helen Zille is not the way to go to deal with operators that think they are above the law, and who have ultimately been the reason why you came up against objections by the community in the first place. To me and all right think people (obviously my opinion) is that once an establishment has applied for the liquor licenses and has been compliant with all other applicable legislation (eg business/entertainment licenses) and has been inspected by the DPO, on his recommendation the business should be granted a temporary license for as long as it take the Liqour Board to come to a decision. So there is none of this trading on 30 day temporaries from other establishments as is the norm (for operators wishing to stay on the right side of the law) If the Liquor Board really need 6 months to make a decision so be it - but in that time it should be clear whether the business is going to be compliant or not. It is amazing that the liquor board could come to a decision in 2 days and I wonder how they managed to apply their minds so quickly. I know another bar in town The Alexander Bar also reported that they tweeted HZ after months of indecision and got the license in a matter of days Good luck and make your business a success.
