Another one way street that gets problematic is the upper part of Sussex Road,
between Lower Main and Main Roads. The problem is rowdy students who often
fiddle or play around with the one way sign during weekends.

  Hi Sam,

Thanks for posting your comments here! You are one of several who have been
victims of that intersection.

Whilst they were painting the Stop I contact OPS to ask them to keep an eye
there as much as they can - especially during peak times. I this morning drove
down Arnold, saw them parking off near the corner observing and it reminded me
to stop!

We are working with law enforcement to resolve some of these issues in our
area - driving down one way streets, skipping Stops, parking on corners and
obstructing the view, speeding and illegal parking from metered and minibus
taxis, side-walk mechanics and parking congestions are only some of the issues
we are focussing on. We are also meeting with our Ward Councillor and some his
officials next week to also discuss other matters such as traffic issues and
resolves surrounding the mill and other traffic /congestion resolves such as
lines and signs.

Also to note - when the pole with the Stop sign is erected the Stop will be
much more visible.

  Kind regards,

  Ancois Bester Ms.

    Saw the stop street too!
Being a victim of an accident at that intersection that caused a
substantial amount of damage to my car I was super-excited to see the Stop
street.
The only problem is will people actually stop? This seems to be an ever
increasing problem, sadly enough with Obs locals. I think it;s the mentality
that Obs is a sleepy village and "there's not much traffic, so why stop?" (by
the way this was said to me by the Obs local that took my car out!)

Every time I leave my driveway and drive through Obs I feel like I'm
fighting a battle, avoiding badly parked cars, pedestrians that insist on
walking in the middle of the road and people that feel they're above traffic
laws. Just my 2 cents!

I just saw that happening and was busy posting about it! :)

Another battle won! City are busy painting the 4 way stop at our request
- cnr Arnold & Bishop! Too many accidents and near misses there to mention.
Thank you City officials (and our Ward Councillor, Brett Herron), for hearing
our plea - we love it when a plan comes together.

**this new stop will also defer the trend of minibus taxis illegally
travelling (and speeding) through or residential area to avoid the Main rd
traffic.

YAY! YAY! YAY! - new stop street in Arnold, cnr Arnold and Bishop.
Hopefully it will assist in slowing down the speeding vehicles.
