War on drugs?
Gang warfare fueled by drugs?

The Drug War has failed and will continue to fail. The DA has an
opportunity in the Western Cape to push for drug reform but they are
missing this opportunity. They can only see the way forward to escalate the
war by bringing in the Army. They will continue to lose this war just on a
bigger scale.

Drug Peace is the way forward - funny how so many previous police chiefs
and heads of state around the world are speaking out against currently drug
policies - and current incumbents are war mongering - to keep their jobs
and make out like they are tough on these issues - except they are not
solving a thing and the gangs have all the more reason to stay like they
are as long as they trade in drugs is controlled by them and is profitable
by them. Lookat Mexico to see a Drug War failing on a much larger scale.

Sure tik and other drugs may be a scourge of our society but imagine if the
money spent on policing and incarcerating individual drug users was spent
helping and educating them. If people are addicted then give them free
drugs and treatment should they wish for it - take the power away from the
gangs.

Look at Portugal for an example. Uruguay is another - about to start
government regulated cannabis sale (not necessarily ideal but better than
letter drug lords control the market at first)

one day we will look back at this era and wonder why we were all so damn
stupid. I hope I am alive to be see this kind of reform one day.
