Could you also add arpack from nonfree which adds the eigs/svds function 
in the next release. Lots of people have requested these functions and 
the restriction on the distribution of the ARPACK library is really minor.

As for the link of the front page of Octave forge, NEWS, and on the 
packages pages, can to edit and commit an appropriate change to the docs 
in the SVN and I'll add it to the pages if someone else does..
