Hi folks,
   Small favour time. We'll be launching our TurboPress product
(see sig) pretty soon, and I'm trying to figure out what online
support options to provide for it. That is, what web site features
and applications would help make life easier or better for the
TurboPress developer community.

Using Borland.com as a model (which also pulls this much more
on topic <g>), what are the kinds of features you'd like to see for
a complex product line's Web site? The list below is drawn from
our original ideas, from existing sites like Borland.com, and
random ideas that popped up.

Imagine you're planning what Borland.com *could* offer you and
the rest of the developer community -- what's good, bad or
missing in this list, in your opinion?

* site map

* sitewide search

* tech help area -- questions and answers, tips and tricks

* searchable faq and tech info documents (also linked by table of
contents)

* international distributors

* list of authorised developers/VARs

* downloads -- patches, utilities

* third party support area -- add-on products etc.

* straw polls on hot subjects

* upload/display area -- allowing developers to show off their own
discoveries and wares via zip files or images

* key members -- perhaps even a hall of fame, with voting

* bug tracking

* listserver signup/signoff

* developers.href style newsgroup and listserver archive search

* events section -- seminars, training, shows etc.

* training areas -- e.g. online walkthrough training sessions with
accompanying audio

* online documentation updates -- manuals, help files, examples

* ordering/pricing etc., of course

If I've left anything out, feel free to put it in!

Thanks for your thoughts.

cheers,
peter
